The aim of this event was to popularize the diverse varieties of Indian tea. India, ranking second in the world in tea production, skillfully combines its cultural heritage with modern technologies.
The festival was inaugurated with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp, a traditional symbol of Indian culture. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Kyrgyzstan, Birender Singh Yadav, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of tea culture not only for India but for the entire world. He noted that this beverage symbolizes community, cultural continuity, and hospitality. In India, tea is served as a sign of respect, and shared tea-drinking is an important part of daily life, whether it be a morning ritual, a meeting with friends, or a festive occasion. The ambassador added that the event is dedicated to the people who work to create each cup of tea and serves as a reminder of the need for a sustainable future for this tradition.
Tea sommelier Chinmay Badodekar also spoke at the festival, sharing secrets of preparing Indian tea, including brewing techniques and the use of spices that influence flavor. He emphasized that the offer to drink tea in India is an offer of friendship, which is why tea-drinking holds a special place in the country's culture.
Before the audience, Badodekar demonstrated the process of preparing four types of tea: rich Assam, Darjeeling, known as "tea champagne," floral Nilgiri, and the famous masala chai. Everyone had the opportunity to taste the offered varieties and enjoy their diversity.
During breaks between tastings, a cultural program took place, featuring national Indian dances from the Folk Ensemble "Kauhar" and a quiz that allowed participants to learn more about the history and traditions of Indian tea. This program deepened the understanding of Indian culture and the significance of tea in the lives of its people.
The festival was not only an expression of respect for centuries-old traditions but also an important step in strengthening cultural ties between Kyrgyzstan and India, fostering mutual understanding and respect for the values of both nations.
