At the meeting of the permanent commission on economy, budget, finance, and investments held today in Bishkek, the director of the education department, Rakhат Musaева, raised an important issue regarding the shortage of teachers in the capital's schools.

According to her, there are more than 400 vacant positions in educational institutions in Bishkek, the majority of which pertain to Russian-speaking schools.

“In new buildings, especially in Russian-speaking classes, the level of education leaves much to be desired. Schools open one or two classes, but when children finish elementary school and move on to the fifth grade, there is a lack of subject teachers. We suggested to the Ministry of Education not to divide classes by the language of instruction, but to implement a program in two languages simultaneously, based on available resources. Ideally, we would like to teach subjects in English,” noted Rakhат Musaева.
