The shortage of teachers is observed in both public and private educational institutions, reported Rahat Musaeva, the director of the Department of Education, during a meeting of the permanent commission on economy, budget, finance, and investments of the Bishkek City Council on February 6.

Deputy Ramina Idyrova from the "Adilet" party previously raised the issue of a significant teacher shortage and inquired about what measures would be taken to address this problem in 2026.

She noted that many parents are choosing private schools and kindergartens because some subjects are absent in public institutions due to a lack of staff.

According to her, out of five lessons that should be conducted in a day, only two can be fully organized—some lessons are consistently missing.

Rahat Musaeva reported that this year the deposit amount for young teachers has been doubled: from 7.7 million soms to 13 million 190.9 thousand soms, which also serves as an additional incentive to attract educators.

She also mentioned that the city mayor held meetings with university rectors, resulting in the signing of a memorandum. Under this agreement, 384 final-year students are undergoing dual training, combining work and study. Currently, there is a shortage of teachers in both public and private educational institutions, with about 400 teaching positions lacking, Musaeva added.
