Residents of Bishkek complain about the smell from the Coca-Cola plant

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the production does not have a negative impact on the environment

During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva raised the issue of complaints from local residents of the Lenin district of Bishkek regarding unpleasant odors coming from the Coca-Cola plant located on Lushchikhina Street.

She reported that the smell becomes particularly noticeable in the mornings. Additionally, the deputy emphasized that the plant was built without adhering to sanitary standards and is located in close proximity to residential buildings. In this regard, she appealed to the Minister of Ecology, Meder Mashiev, to look into the situation.

Daniyar Amangeldiev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, confirmed that this issue will be taken under control. He also noted that the plant was established at this location before the nearby residential buildings were constructed.

“Firstly, the plant was originally there. Secondly, the production is not harmful. Coca-Cola is a public company that pays close attention to environmental issues, as their shares are traded on the international stock exchange. I myself have familiarized myself with the operation of the plant — there are no harmful production processes there,” emphasized Amangeldiev.
