Construction companies in Bishkek expressed intentions to erect buildings 25-30 stories high; however, the current general plan permits only 9-14 stories. This was reported by the chief architect of the city, Mederbek Kydyrmaev, in an interview on the "Kabar" television channel.
He noted: "We have been approached by both investors and construction organizations. However, the new general plan clearly defines the allowable number of stories."
