Deputy: Catering establishments have inflated prices even for takeout orders
At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development, Deputy Zhanibek Abirov drew attention to the problem of rising prices in public catering establishments.
He emphasized that previously the service charge in such places was 10%-15% of the total bill, of which 7%-8% went to the waiters, while the rest remained with the owners of the establishments.
“According to the information I have, restaurant and café owners have now agreed to raise prices by 20%-22%. This is done so that they have a financial cushion in case of possible changes. You claim that there is no price increase, however, the changes are quite noticeable. Even for takeout orders, the prices are significantly inflated. How do you plan to identify such cases?” he asked.
In response, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Binazir Nurlanova stated that public catering establishments intend to reduce prices by 10% for takeout orders.
The deputy also inquired how the ministry would monitor all cafés across the country.
The deputy minister noted that cafés and restaurants are divided into different segments, and the choice always remains with the customer.
