The two-story building of the opera and ballet theater is planned to be transferred to the Ministry of Finance.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev, this building was used for storing and creating theatrical decorations, but for a long time it has been left without proper care.
The Deputy Minister noted: "In recent years, its condition has deteriorated to an emergency state. The government has decided to change its intended purpose. A plot of land measuring 25 hundredths has been allocated for the opera and ballet theater, and funding from Mega has already been arranged. The construction of a new utility building for the theater is planned in the near future."
Atambaev pointed out that according to the director's order dated January 30, 2026, in connection with the instruction of the Minister of Culture, the land plot with the two-story building and the theater workshops is being transferred to the operational management of the Ministry of Finance. The document also states that all necessary procedures must be completed by February 13.
He emphasized: "This is not just a utility room. It houses decorations, a wardrobe, and much more. This building has two floors. Dear colleagues, it would be wrong to make such a hasty decision," the deputy noted.
Atambaev proposed to his colleagues to conduct an on-site study of the object. According to him, the theater staff is opposed to the relocation.
