Colonel of the reserve Serik Kekенovich Abiev passed away at the age of 54 on January 27, 2026.
He was born in 1972 and graduated in 1995 from the Kyrgyz State National University named after J. Balasagyn, obtaining a degree in "Jurisprudence".
Serik began his career in the national security agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic in November 1995. Over the years, he held numerous responsible positions:
- from 1995 to 2001, he worked in the Investigative Department of the GKNB KR;
- from 2001 to 2003 — in the GKNB KR Department for the Naryn Region;
- from 2003 to 2006, he returned to the Investigative Department of the GKNB KR;
- from 2012 to 2014 — he was an assistant to the Chairman of the GKNB KR;
- from 2014 to 2017, he worked in the Anti-Terrorism Center of the GKNB KR;
- from 2017 to 2022 — in the Main Investigative Department of the GKNB KR;
- from 2022 to 2024 — in the Academy of the GKNB KR;
- from 2024 to 2025, he held the position of Deputy Head of the SPO of the GKNB KR.
Serik Kekенovich was awarded departmental honors and commendations for his achievements in service, as well as received a Certificate of Honor from the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. He became a mentor to many national security employees, instilling in them the values of integrity, justice, and respect for traditions, as well as teaching dignity and service to the Motherland.
The leadership, veterans, and employees of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic express their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
