The action will unfold in the Kokand Khanate


In Kyrgyzstan, a film adaptation of the historical novel by Tölöğön Kasymbekov titled "Sıngan qılıch" ("Broken Sword") is planned. This became known through information from the Ministry of Culture of the republic.

The project's budget is currently being finalized, and the script will be written by the renowned playwright Sultan Raev. Filming is set to begin at the end of 2026.

The plot of the work unfolds against the backdrop of events in the Kokand Khanate and covers the period from 1801 to 1876. It reflects the complex historical processes associated with the incorporation of the Kyrgyz into the Russian Empire. The main themes are the struggle for power, popular uprisings, and the fates of individual people intertwined with the fate of the entire nation.
