The head of the State Antimonopoly Agency, Jenaly Orozbaev, announced on January 26 at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, and Competition Development the intention to introduce price regulation on contracts in universities. He noted that in 2016, state regulation in the field of education was abolished.

“We are reinstating this norm because over the past year, the cost of education has significantly increased, doubling. For example, in universities where the contract cost 50,000 soms, it now reaches 100,000-120,000 soms. An analysis conducted showed that as a result of checking the formation of service costs, we issued a directive to KNU to return 23 million soms to students that were unlawfully obtained, and to the Academy of Public Administration under the President, 13 million soms,” he added.
