At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services Talantbek Imanakun uulu voiced alarming statistics regarding overcrowding in educational institutions in Bishkek.

According to him, the population of the capital is approximately 1.5 million people, which leads to a significant excess of the number of students in schools over their designed capacity.

These data were presented in the context of discussing the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the Saudi Development Fund regarding the second phase of the "Construction of State Schools" project.

As part of this project, Kyrgyzstan will receive $50 million for 25 years at an annual interest rate of 1.5%. These funds will be allocated for the construction of five new schools in Bishkek, the addition of seven buildings to existing educational institutions, and the construction of two new schools in the Chui region.

In the first phase of this project, 28 schools and 2 preschool institutions were built.

The deputies have already approved the draft law on the ratification of the agreement in the first reading.
