About 70% of bus accidents in Bishkek occur due to the fault of other drivers - Omurzakov
In an interview with Birinchi Radio, the chief engineer of the second bus fleet of the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek City Transport," Artur Omurzakov, shared information about the situation with drivers and the functioning of bus fleets in Bishkek.
He reported that there are five bus fleets operating in the city, providing work for 2,660 drivers. Omurzakov noted that there are both responsible and less conscientious drivers on the roads, which creates various traffic situations.
“In 2025, we held more than 18 joint meetings with representatives of the Patrol Service of the Bishkek City Police. At one of the meetings, even the head of the Republican Traffic Police was present, where we discussed the importance of adhering to traffic rules,” he added.
According to him, most traffic accidents involving buses are not the fault of the company's drivers. “Our analysis shows that about 70% of such incidents occur due to the actions of other road users, mainly passenger cars,” Omurzakov specified.
In addition, he emphasized that there is ongoing monitoring of driver performance and the technical condition of buses. Joint inspections are also conducted with the Patrol Service of Bishkek City, which oversees the condition of the bus fleets and the technical state of the vehicles.
