"The choice in favor of public transport should be automatic"
After the completion of road surface repairs and the construction of interchanges, the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, emphasized the importance of increasing parking fees in the central part of the city.
"We are expanding roads according to the master plan, not with the goal of accommodating more cars. Many of them are located in the construction zone, which exceeds the established boundaries. In the future, when all the work is completed, some restrictions will need to be introduced. For example, the idea of banning cars from entering on even and odd days has faced criticism, and society will need time to adapt to these changes. Therefore, it will be necessary to raise parking costs in the center of Bishkek. We must ensure that the city's residents automatically choose public transport," Junushaliev noted.
