Those who do not pay alimony in the Kyrgyz Republic will be sent to prison
The maximum penalty is up to 3 years
In Kyrgyzstan, criminal liability will be introduced for parents who evade alimony payments. Deputy Attorney General Umutkan Konkubaeva announced this information at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.
The Prosecutor's Office presented new amendments to the legislation to the deputies, according to which the following measures are provided for failure to comply with the alimony agreement or court decision on alimony:
- for arrears exceeding three months — arrest for up to three days;
- for repeated violations within a year — arrest for seven days;
- for non-payment for 12 months — community service from 100 to 200 hours or imprisonment for up to one year;
- for concealing or underreporting income, as well as evading employment by court decision and order of the bailiff — a fine of 100,000 soms or imprisonment for up to three years.
The bill was approved in the first reading during discussions in the parliamentary committee.
