The Bishkek electric grid enterprise, part of OJSC "NESC," is actively engaged in the implementation of an automated commercial electricity metering system (ACEMS). This was reported in statements from the organization itself.

The main task facing the ACEMS is to improve the distribution of electricity, enhance control over consumption, and ensure accurate accounting.

Since the beginning of 2025, 28,000 "smart" meters have already been installed in various districts of the capital. In particular, the distribution by districts is as follows:

Additionally, in 2026, the installation of another 42,000 next-generation "smart" meters is planned.

Representatives of the electric grid enterprise noted that "smart" meters have a number of advantages. They automatically transmit data to the server in real-time, disconnect electricity supply when the established capacity is exceeded or in case of debt. These devices also automatically alert about attempts of unauthorized interference, improve the quality of electricity, and reduce the risks of electricity theft by minimizing contact between the inspector and the consumer, which in turn protects electrical equipment from overloads.
