The mayor of the capital, Aybek Junushaliev, informed the "Kabar" agency that Bishkek is abandoning the use of sand for combating ice on city streets. This decision was made as part of an initiative to improve the ecological situation and maintain the cleanliness of the city.

According to the mayor, mixing sand with snow leads to road pollution, so the use of this material will be discontinued.

“We will no longer scatter sand for ice removal. As an alternative, only salt will be used,” he emphasized.

It is worth noting that in a recent interview, commenting on social media users' criticism regarding the ineffective snow removal after the recent snowfall, the mayor pointed out that the process of clearing the roads has its own peculiarities and methods.
