According to Junushaliev, this decision was made to improve the environmental situation and maintain cleanliness in Bishkek. He noted that the combination of sand and snow worsens the condition of the road surface, creating significant pollution.
“To avoid the formation of mud on the streets, we are abandoning the use of sand. To accelerate the melting of snow on the roads, we will use only salt,” emphasized the mayor.
It should be added that earlier, in response to residents' criticism on social media regarding the quality of snow removal after recent snowfalls, Junushaliev stated that the cleaning work is carried out in accordance with established norms and technologies.
