In 2025, China's population continued to decline. According to information from the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the country registered 7.92 million newborns in a year, while the number of deaths amounted to 11.31 million. This resulted in a natural population decrease of 3.39 million people.

As a result, the total number of residents in the country reached approximately 1.4 billion, of which about 716 million are men and around 688 million are women.

Regarding the age structure, 60.6 percent of the population (approximately 851 million people) is of working age, between 16 and 59 years old. Individuals over 60 years old make up 23 percent (about 323 million), of which 15.9 percent (approximately 223 million) are citizens aged 65 and older.

This is already the fourth consecutive year of population decline in China. Experts attribute this trend to low birth rates, an aging population, rising housing and education costs, as well as changing social attitudes among the youth.
