An event dedicated to the day of the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad took place in Bishkek.

On January 16, a commemorative event dedicated to the anniversary of the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad took place at the Memorial Complex located in the park named after Daiyr Asanov.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Colonel Almazbek Kulmurzaev, as well as the families of those who perished during the Great Patriotic War.

As part of the event, archival documents related to soldiers who went missing during the conflict were handed over to their relatives. These documents were the result of digitization carried out by the staff of the military lyceum on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, based on materials from the Central Archive of Russia.

The blockade of Leningrad was lifted on January 18, 1943, but January 27, 1944, became a significant day when the city was finally freed from the siege. During the blockade, more than 16,000 people were evacuated from Leningrad to Kyrgyzstan, including about 3,500 children.

One of those who helped the evacuees was Kyrgyzstani Toktogon Altybasarova, who raised 150 children rescued from the besieged city.
