In the city of Osh, it has been ordered to clear the Navoi Park of trading points. Video

The city administration of Osh made a decision on January 16 to demolish a number of trading facilities that are located illegally or in a chaotic manner in the central park named after Alisher Navoi.

Municipal representatives emphasized the need to update the appearance of the park, which should become a well-maintained and peaceful place for recreation, free from unnecessary commercial development.

During a site inspection, Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the recreation area. According to him, “this should be Navoi Park, not a market. Right now, it looks more like ‘Navoi Bazaar.’ All outdated trading facilities need to be urgently removed. We plan to restore order: update the facilities, make them more modern, and install new benches. The park should fulfill its primary function. All old and potentially dangerous attractions will be dismantled — only modern and safe structures will remain. There should be a quiet and cozy place for walks. It is also necessary to engage in landscaping and plant new trees: plane trees, poplars, and black locusts,” the mayor noted.

Alisher Navoi Park is the oldest and most visited park in Osh, located in the city center and stretching along the banks of the Ak-Buura River.

In January 2026, the park continues to expand thanks to the areas of the former market. In 2025, the first phase of large-scale infrastructure reconstruction was completed here.

New green zones are being created on the site of old abandoned buildings, such as “Palvan-Saray.” One of the main attractions of the park for a long time was a real Yak-40 airplane.
The park features a Ferris wheel, which offers a picturesque view of Suleiman Too. For the youth, a modern skate park and workout areas were opened in 2025.

New pedestrian paths with modern lighting have been laid along the embankment. In December 2025, a new monument to the poet Alisher Navoi was installed near the park.

The park is one of the most beloved recreational spots for residents, thanks to the many mature trees and shade. Numerous cafes serving traditional shashlik are located within its territory.

In 2026, the authorities plan to complete the improvement of the riverbank and create special zones for table tennis and chess enthusiasts.
