The Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations of the Kyrgyz Republic has proposed that higher education institutions and secondary vocational education institutions, regardless of their organizational and legal form, cease the practice of imposing fines on students for missing classes and internships.

According to information from the ministry, this recommendation is aimed at protecting the rights of students, as well as creating unified and fair approaches to addressing issues of academic discipline and preventing unjustified financial penalties in the educational sphere.

The ministry also advises using alternative measures that are academic in nature and not related to monetary sanctions, in accordance with current laws.

As part of this initiative, the ministry plans to amend the legislative acts regulating the activities of higher education institutions and secondary vocational education institutions.

Previously, the issue of fines for students for absenteeism was raised in parliament. Deputy Dastan Bekeshev expressed the opinion that only academic disciplinary measures should be applied, and financial sanctions should be excluded.
