According to Daria Japarova, head of the nutrition hygiene department at the Osh City Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, their organization did not grant permission for the opening of such trading points. “We opposed the operation of iftar markets and sent directives to the mayor's office and municipal territorial administrations (MTA). Unlike previous years, this year we recommended not to issue permits. Nevertheless, traders signed contracts with the municipal property management and continue their activities,” she noted, adding that control over street trading falls under the jurisdiction of the MTA and the city police department of Osh.
Jylyzbek Saktanov, head of the territorial management of "Kyzyl-Kyshtak," reported that the situation is under control. “Traders received permission from the mayor's office. We monitor compliance with sanitary standards and prevent trading from spilling onto the roadway. Sellers strive to maintain cleanliness. This market operates every year; however, it has not been officially granted full permission,” he added.
Mirlan Kazybay uulu, head of the urban planning and municipal property department of the Osh city mayor's office, explained that this year, the opening of iftar markets is permitted only in two locations — on Mominov and 8 Marta streets. “Initially, it was planned not to issue permits for iftar markets this year. However, traders approached us with a request, taking on the obligation to comply with all norms, and contracts were signed. As a result of constant appeals from entrepreneurs, it was decided to allow their activities. Currently, the market is under daily control,” he reported.
