Sleep doctor Karima Magomedova explained in an interview with RIA Novosti how the use of technology and watching content at night negatively affects sleep quality. According to her, the emotional arousal caused by gadgets makes it difficult to fall asleep and disrupts the structure of sleep.
“The blue light emitted by screens interferes with the production of melatonin, which is a key hormone for regulating the sleep-wake cycle. Additionally, the content we consume leads to cognitive and emotional arousal, which also complicates falling asleep and can cause sleep fragmentation,” she noted.
To create a favorable sleep environment, the specialist advises minimizing the flow of information and limiting not only content consumption but also excessive communication before bedtime.
