In 2025, there were over 1.1 million hospitalization cases in hospitals of Kyrgyzstan.
Of the total number of hospitalizations, more than 419,000 (which accounts for 36%) were for children under 18 years old.
The conditions for providing medical assistance are as follows:
- For children under 6 years old: In accordance with the State Guarantees Program, this category is completely exempt from co-payment. Treatment, diagnostics, and medications from the List of Essential Medicines are provided free of charge.
- For children aged 6 to 18 years: This age group is subject to an average co-payment, the amount of which depends on the profile of the department (therapeutic or surgical) and the level of the medical institution.
As for planned hospitalization:
1. A referral from a family doctor or pediatrician assigned to the patient is required.
2. A birth certificate of the child must be presented.
If there is no referral, planned treatment is paid for at the maximum co-payment rate at the medical institution's cash desk. In the case of emergency hospitalization carried out through the ambulance service, a referral is not required, and assistance is provided immediately.
