In 2025, hospitals in Kyrgyzstan that operate under contracts with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) registered 1 million 165 thousand 676 cases of inpatient treatment. According to a press release from the MHIF, 36% of the total cases were children under 18 years old, which corresponds to approximately 419 thousand hospitalizations.
The Fund clarified that each case of inpatient treatment is counted separately, and the figure of 1,165,676 does not reflect the number of individuals but only the number of completed treatment cycles.
The conditions for providing medical care vary depending on age:
For children under 6 years old:
This category is completely exempt from co-payment according to the State Guarantees Program. All necessary medications, laboratory, and diagnostic services are provided free of charge.
For children aged 6 to 18 years:
This group must make a medium-level co-payment, the amount of which depends on the type of medical institution (therapeutic or surgical) and the profile of the department.
To undergo planned hospitalization, the following conditions must be met:
Presence of a referral from a family doctor or pediatrician to whom the patient is attached. Presentation of the child's birth certificate. If the referral is absent, planned treatment will be paid at the maximum co-payment rate at the medical institution's cash desk.
In the case of emergency hospitalization through an ambulance, a referral is not required, and assistance is provided immediately.
