At the meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on February 10, the First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov announced the ministry's intention to revise the classification of rare diseases, transitioning from ICD-10 to ICD-11.

During the meeting, issues related to the implementation of the Jogorku Kenesh's resolution concerning children with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy were discussed.

Deputy Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva inquired about which classification is currently used by the Ministry of Health for rare diseases. In response, the Deputy Minister pointed out that ICD-10 is still being used.

The deputy noted that the new version, ICD-11, has broader functional capabilities, which would contribute to better inclusion. In particular, more detailed diagnosis recording for children allows educational institutions to take individual characteristics into account and organize the educational process more effectively. Sadyrbaeva also asked about plans for transitioning to the new classification.

Aibek Matkerimov noted that the transition to ICD-11 is being carried out gradually.
