The Minister of Health and a WHO representative discussed cooperation issues

The Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov held a meeting with Liviu Vedrasco, the representative of the World Health Organization in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, during the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of further developing strategic cooperation with the WHO, which has been supporting the strengthening of the country's healthcare system for over three decades.

The parties discussed a number of key aspects of cooperation, including the development of primary healthcare, strengthening human resources, digitalization of healthcare, emergency preparedness, as well as issues of antimicrobial resistance and mental health. It was noted that WHO recommendations and technical expertise are actively applied in the formation of national programs and legislative acts in the field of health.

The minister highlighted the significance of the WHO Cooperation Strategy with Kyrgyzstan for 2024-2030, which will serve as a basis for joint planning of activities, while expressing the need to adapt this strategy in accordance with the current priorities and challenges of the healthcare system.

Additionally, international and national health events in which Kyrgyzstan plans to participate actively were discussed. In this context, the role of the WHO in coordinating the efforts of partners and promoting international experience and best practices was emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to deepen practical cooperation, regularly exchange views, and implement joint initiatives aimed at improving the effectiveness of the healthcare system and enhancing the health of the citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
