The maternity ward has been opened at the Osh Interregional Hospital after renovation.
High-ranking guests attended the ceremony, including First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov, the President's Plenipotentiary Representative in the Osh Region Amanakan Kenjebayev, Vice Mayor of the city Nurlan Zakirov, Chairman of the Osh City Council Bolot Bayetov, as well as doctors and staff of the hospital.
According to the director of the institution, Atabek Jumaliev, the maternity ward was built back in 1968 and had not undergone major renovations until now.
Aibek Matkerimov noted that the protection of the health of mothers and children remains one of the key areas within the framework of the national program "Healthy Person - Developed Country," which will last until 2030.
The major renovation was carried out from June 2025 to January 2026. The work covered all main departments of the maternity ward, including the intensive care unit, delivery and reception departments, the pregnancy pathology unit, operating rooms, and the clinical laboratory. A centralized oxygen station was installed in the building, new operating rooms and wards were added, and engineering systems, the roof, and the facade were updated.
In addition, a waiting room for patients' relatives was organized. Sponsorship funds amounting to 3.8 million soms were allocated for the installation of an elevator.
A total of 87 million soms from the state budget were allocated for the major renovation.
Every year, 9-10 thousand women give birth in this ward, and about 20 thousand pregnant women receive necessary treatment.
