In February of this year, a month-long campaign called "Be Responsible!" will kick off in Kyrgyzstan, focused on men's health. This initiative aims to identify risk factors for non-communicable diseases among men over the age of 18, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

As part of this campaign, men are encouraged to visit local primary healthcare facilities, such as family medicine centers, general practitioner practices, and rural health posts, for preventive consultations and medical examinations.

As a result of preventive screening in 2025, more than 973,000 men across the country underwent examinations. Elevated blood pressure was detected in 119,600 (12%) of them, while 49,600 (5%) were found to be at high risk for cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, approximately 60,800 men (6%) were identified as having a high risk of developing diabetes.

During 2025, 15,388 individuals were newly registered with a diagnosis of hypertension and 7,364 with diabetes. Cardiovascular diseases were responsible for 16,644 deaths among the adult population of the country during that year.

Since 2019, the month-long campaign has been conducted as part of the project "Effective Management and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan," which is funded by Switzerland and organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Health.

Non-communicable diseases include chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular, oncological, respiratory diseases, and diabetes. The main risk factors are poor nutrition, tobacco and alcohol consumption, as well as a lack of physical activity.

The project covers the entire country and aims to improve the health of the population through the development of primary healthcare and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
