Infant mortality in Kyrgyzstan decreased by 4.2%

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan achieved a significant reduction in the infant mortality rate. Minister of Health Kanbek Dosmambetov announced this news at a meeting of his department's board.

According to him, this year the infant mortality rate was 13.5 per 1,000 live births, which is a decrease of 4.2% compared to the previous year.

Dosmambetov also noted that the structure of the causes leading to infant mortality remains unchanged. The largest share consists of perinatal diseases, which account for 65.7% of cases, equivalent to 1,224 children. Congenital anomalies rank second with 15.5% (289 cases), while respiratory diseases are in third place, making up 8.2% (152 cases).

Nevertheless, the minister reported an increase in infant mortality due to infectious and parasitic diseases, which accounted for 28.1% in 2025.
