At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 11, deputy Erlan Kokulov raised the issue of the need to elevate the status of elected representatives and appealed to President Sadyr Japarov for assistance. He expressed dissatisfaction with the difficulties faced by deputies in interacting with representatives of the executive branch.
According to Kokulov, it has become challenging for deputies to organize meetings with ministers.
“We approach them not for personal matters, but to solve people's problems, yet they refuse to meet with us. Sometimes even the security guards at the entrance make us wait,” the deputy shared his concerns.
In response to these complaints, President Japarov criticized the parliamentarians themselves, noting that the level of their status depends on their professionalism and the actions they take.
“You lower your own status when you raise insignificant issues. How can you expect the respect of the people after that? Deputies should focus on important state matters!” the president emphasized.
Nevertheless, Sadyr Japarov instructed members of the Cabinet of Ministers to meet with deputies without prior appointments if they come for official matters. However, he clarified: “If you see that a deputy has come for personal issues, you can send them back.”
