The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was dismissed due to suspicion of bribery
According to a statement from the press secretary of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Askat Alagozov, Urmatbek Shamyrkanov has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Emergency Situations. The main reason for this was suspicion of receiving a bribe while he was serving as Deputy Minister.

According to Alagozov, during the summer of 2025, Shamyrkanov demanded money for facilitating the promotion of one of the ministry's employees. The employee, he said, transferred half of the agreed amount to Shamyrkanov's electronic wallet. After Shamyrkanov's appointment as minister, this employee stated that he would not be able to transfer the remaining part of the amount. In response, Shamyrkanov transferred him to service in the Batken region.

The employee transferred to Batken decided to appeal to President Sadyr Japarov. As a result, the president instructed the General Prosecutor's Office to conduct an investigation into the allegations made. During the investigation, it was established that the facts mentioned in the statement indeed took place. "In this regard, the president decided to relieve Urmatbek Shamyrkanov of his duties as Minister of Emergency Situations. This case confirms that even after many years, corruption can be uncovered," noted the press secretary.

Alagozov also added that in modern times, unlawful actions can be identified much faster than before. This should serve as a lesson for all public servants to understand the seriousness of their actions.

The press secretary emphasized that in the event of illegal actions by public officials, the authorities of the country will not turn a blind eye to it, regardless of how high their position is.
