As a result of the waste management reform in Kyrgyzstan, a new state enterprise called "Ekooperator" has been established. Its main task is to implement a mechanism for extended producer responsibility. This was reported by Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, at a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh.

According to Raimkulova, over 74 million soms have already been collected in the framework of recycling fees.

In addition, new approaches to systematic waste management are being implemented in the country. Standard rules regarding the management of municipal waste have been adopted, and the requirements for the disposal of used batteries and lubricants have been tightened, according to a government resolution. In addition, a ban on the burial of waste containing valuable components has been introduced, aimed at promoting recycling and reducing negative impacts on the environment.
