Kyrgyzstan does not intend to follow the European Union's directives regarding trade and strategic partnership. This was stated by the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev, in an interview with the news service "Vesti".
He emphasized the importance of strategic cooperation with Russia, despite the potential risks from sanctions.
“First of all, we are an independent state. We are not dependent on others. No threats or pressure measures can stop us. We have our own vision for the future of our republic and national interests that we will defend. We have a clear development strategy, and we will follow the designated path,” he noted.
According to Mamataliyev, Kyrgyzstan demonstrates responsibility as a member of the international community.
“We adhere to international laws and act in accordance with the UN Charter. We follow international norms. Therefore, accusations against us seem inappropriate,” added the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh.
At the same time, he noted that parliamentary diplomacy with Russia is becoming increasingly significant within the framework of the foreign policy course established by President Sadyr Japarov.
