In the first reading, parliament deputies supported the draft law concerning the ratification of the protocol that amends the agreement between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on border crossing points. This document was signed on August 22, 2025, in Bishkek and is part of the visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Kyrgyzstan.
The purpose of this draft law is to carry out the necessary internal procedures for the protocol to come into force. The main changes involve renaming the border crossing point "Kamyshevka-automobile" to "Tomonka-Chui - automobile" and upgrading its status to international with a 24-hour operating mode.
Additionally, the border crossing point "Kichi-Kapka - automobile" will also be transformed into an international one and will open for operation 24 hours a day.
These changes are aimed at creating more convenient conditions for citizens and vehicles when crossing the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, which, in turn, should increase the flow of cargo and passengers, attract foreign tourists, and contribute to the improvement of infrastructure.
