A group of ethnic Kyrgyz who moved from Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan has requested assistance in obtaining permission to visit cemeteries that remain in the territory of the neighboring country. This issue was raised at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh by deputy Kamila Talieva.

According to her, more than 300 ethnic Kyrgyz who signed a collective appeal relocated from the Tajik village of Jiydelik to such settlements as Arka, Jashtyk, and Dostuk, located in the Leilek district of the Batken region. The authors of the appeal demand either the return of the cemetery territory or official permission to visit it, as their relatives and loved ones are buried there.

Furthermore, they emphasized that migrants from Tajikistan have already received similar permissions to access cemeteries on Kyrgyz territory.

“This is an important and serious problem. People are asking for the opportunity to visit graves and read memorial prayers,” noted Kamila Talieva.

She also reported that she has sent this appeal to the Border Service and other relevant organizations. In addition, Talieva has asked the representative of the president and government in the Jogorku Kenesh, Bektur Zulpiyev, to take this issue under personal control.
