A map of the world is planned to be installed in Bishkek, with Issyk-Kul at its center.
The initiative was put forward by the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic, Arslan Koichiev, who instructed to organize the installation of a copy of the map created by Mahmud Kashgari-Barskani in the 11th century. This map, which belongs to the era of the Islamic Renaissance in Central Asia, also designates Issyk-Kul as the center of the world. This project will be implemented as part of the events dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of Mahmud Kashgari-Barskani's birth.
The Ministry of Culture will be tasked with holding a competition to select the best map design.
