In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, plans are underway to install a copy of the remarkable world map created in the 11th century by the renowned scholar Mahmud Kashgari. The central element of this map will be Lake Issyk-Kul, highlighting the importance of this region.
The State Secretary of Kyrgyzstan, Arslan Koichiev, initiated this project, which will be implemented through a competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy. The competition for the best project will be a key stage in this process.

The map, created during the Islamic Renaissance in Central Asia, holds significant historical and cultural value. The installation of the map copy will coincide with the celebration of the millennium of Mahmud Kashgari-Barskani, adding further significance to the event.

Mahmud Kashgari-Barskani (11th century) was an outstanding Turkic scholar who engaged in many fields of knowledge, including philology, lexicography, and cartography. He hailed from the city of Barskhan, located near Lake Issyk-Kul. His famous work "Divan Lugat At-Turk" ("Dictionary of Turkic Dialects," 1072–1074) is a crucial encyclopedia of Turkic culture, language, and folklore.
