In Tajikistan, Dushanbe Airport and the Traffic Police have become leaders in bribery and embezzlement

According to the results of the work for 2025, the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption of Tajikistan published information about the most corrupt state bodies. At a press conference in Dushanbe, a list was announced, with the international airport of the capital leading, where the amount of identified damage reached 319.3 million somoni, as reported by "Asia-Plus".

The second place in terms of corruption level was taken by the State Traffic Police (GAI) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Deputy Head of the Agency, Firuz Kamolzoda, spoke about a large-scale scheme uncovered, as a result of which more than 2,700 vehicles received state registration numbers without undergoing customs clearance. In one of the GAI departments, the damage amounted to over 240 million somoni. To date, 253 million somoni have been returned to the budget, collected from the guilty parties and illegal importers.

The top five most corrupt organizations also included the Road Reconstruction Center, Dushanbe Water Supply, and the thermal energy sector. The head of the anti-corruption agency, Sulaymon Sultonzada, noted that systemic corruption remains one of the main problems in the country.

The situation is confirmed by international experts: according to the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for 2025, Tajikistan ranked 166th out of 182. Despite regular arrests of dozens of civil servants, corrupt schemes continue to thrive in law enforcement agencies, the medical sector, and land resources.

Thus, the State Traffic Police (GAI) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs ranks second among the most corrupt bodies. The damage from the actions of just one GAI department exceeded 240 million somoni. Currently, 253 million somoni have been returned to the budget, collected from the guilty parties and illegal importers.

In addition, the list included the Road Reconstruction Center, Dushanbe Water Supply, and the thermal energy sector. Sulaymon Sultonzada, the head of the anti-corruption agency, emphasized that systemic corruption is one of the most pressing issues for the republic.

International experts point to the seriousness of the situation: in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), Tajikistan ranked 166th out of 182 countries in 2025. Despite regular arrests of civil servants, corruption issues continue to be relevant in law enforcement agencies, healthcare, and land resources.
