Eldar Sulaymanov, representing the "Ata-Jurt Kyrgyzstan" faction in the Jogorku Kenesh, has initiated the process of voluntarily resigning his powers. The Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic plans to discuss his statement at today's meeting.
Although the official reasons for this step have not yet been disclosed, the resignation of the deputy comes against the backdrop of numerous scandals. His ex-wife previously publicly accused him of domestic violence, which Sulaymanov has firmly denied.
According to journalist Bolot Temirov, a group of fake accounts was active on social media, discrediting the deputy's ex-wife. These accounts were also suspected of similar actions against Shairbek and Tai-Muras Tashiev. However, after a warning from the president's press secretary, Daiyrbek Orunbekov, about possible criminal liability, all provocative materials against the Tashiev family were deleted, along with the accounts that published them.
Sulaymanov entered parliament in 2021. After the Central Election Commission reviews his statement, it is expected that his seat in the Jogorku Kenesh will be taken by the next candidate from the party list.
