On February 13, 2026, a meeting took place in Bishkek between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and his Kazakh counterpart, Ermek Kosherbaev, who arrived on an official visit. This information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the negotiations, the key aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including political, economic, water-energy, and cultural areas. In particular, emphasis was placed on the implementation of previously reached agreements discussed at the 7th meeting of the Supreme Intergovernmental Council and the 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council. The ministers also agreed on a program for mutual high-level visits in the current year.
In the context of the practical implementation of joint projects, initiatives such as the creation of an industrial trade-logistics complex at the border, a wholesale distribution center in the Almaty region for storing vegetables and fruits, as well as an alternative road from Issyk-Kul to Almaty were discussed. The modernization of border crossing points and bridges on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border was also addressed.
The parties noted that there is significant potential for developing interregional cooperation in agriculture and industry and decided to explore possible prospects in these areas.
The discussion also touched upon issues of strengthening cooperation on international platforms. The ministers confirmed the similarity of views on important regional issues and expressed their readiness to support each other within international organizations.
In addition, the parties expressed interest in expanding cultural and humanitarian interaction, including initiatives in education, healthcare, and youth policy.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Kulubaev invited the Kazakh side to actively participate in the upcoming VI World Nomad Games.
