The Prosecutor General's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed concern about the possible change of its constitutional status

The agency stated its opposition to the abolition of ranks and titles for civilian prosecutors

At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on constitutional legislation, the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan expressed its position against the abolition of ranks and military titles for civilian prosecutors.

The discussed bills concern changes that imply a transition to a system of class ranks. One of them suggests the abandonment of special titles in civilian state bodies, such as the Tax and Customs Services, while planning to retain them only in law enforcement agencies.

Deputy Prosecutor General Umutkan Konkubaeva noted that the proposed changes could negatively affect the constitutional status of the Prosecutor's Office as an independent body, which, in turn, would lead to a weakening of prosecutorial oversight and a decrease in the effectiveness of the fight against crime.
