The administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced changes in the structure of government bodies. The Border Service now operates as an independent entity, having separated from the State Committee for National Security.

These transformations were made possible by a decree signed by President Sadyr Japarov, which amends the previous resolution on the structure of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the new decree, which was adopted in accordance with Articles 70 and 71 of the Constitution, the president ordered the following changes:

1. Amend the presidential decree "On the Structure and Composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic" dated October 12, 2021, No. 425 as follows:

in paragraph 1:

– the sixth paragraph shall be reworded as follows:

"– Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic";

– add a new twenty-seventh paragraph:

"– State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic".

2. Transform the Border Service, which was previously part of the SCNS, into the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

3. The Cabinet of Ministers is instructed to:

– adjust its decisions in accordance with this decree;

– take other necessary measures arising from the decree.

4. The decree comes into force from the moment of its official publication.

It is worth noting that the Border Service was integrated into the SCNS in November 2020.

On February 10, President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree under which Kamchybek Tashiev was relieved of his duties as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the SCNS.

Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov has been appointed as the Acting Chairman of the SCNS.

In addition, three Deputy Chairmen of the SCNS were dismissed.
