Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov has been appointed as the acting head of the State Committee for National Security
President Sadyr Japarov made the decision to dismiss Kamchybek Tashiev, who held the position of chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS). The decree on his dismissal was signed by the head of state.
Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov has been temporarily appointed to replace Tashiev.
Kamchybek Tashiev was appointed to his position on October 16, 2020, when Sadyr Japarov was acting as president following the events of October 5-6 of the same year.
These two individuals, known as "eki dosy" (which translates to "two friendships"), were regarded as one of the most influential pairs in the country's politics.
Despite rumors of possible disagreements and conflicts between them, both Tashiev and Japarov have repeatedly denied any existing tensions.
On the other hand, Tashiev's departure from the post opens up the possibility for him to participate in early presidential elections, as many analysts and political experts have suggested.
