Comment from the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan in Germany regarding the situation
Omurbek Tekebaev, who currently serves as the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan in Germany, expressed his opinion on the appearance of his name in documents related to American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein, convicted of sexual crimes against minors, committed suicide in prison.
The diplomat noted that in 2017 he was detained upon returning from Vienna to Bishkek, which occurred against the backdrop of escalating political tensions in the country. Tekebaev's supporters organized several protests, while international observers warned of the potential for renewed instability reminiscent of the events of 2010.
“My name became a subject of discussion in the context of analyzing political risks and appeared in international analytical materials. Later, this mention was reflected in the so-called Epstein files, where, in addition to me, historical figures such as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Castro are mentioned,” Tekebaev recalled.
It is worth noting that as part of the investigation into Epstein's case, U.S. authorities released millions of documents, including text, photo, and video materials.
