Today, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, parliamentarians approved in the second reading the agreement on the construction of new schools using a loan from Saudi Arabia. This decision pertained to the draft law "On the Ratification of the Loan Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Saudi Fund for Development for the project 'Construction of Public Schools' Phase-2," signed on October 9, 2025, in Bishkek.

The head of the Ministry of Construction, Nurdana Oruntaev, reported that within the framework of the second phase of the project, Saudi Arabia will provide a loan of 50 million US dollars, which will be used for the construction of educational institutions in Bishkek and the Chui region.

According to him, the funds will be allocated for a period of 25 years and are intended for the construction of five new schools and seven additional educational buildings in Bishkek, as well as two educational institutions in the Chui region, which will be able to accommodate between 150 and 1,000 students.

It was previously planned that the implementation of the project would begin in 2026 and be completed in 2029, with two years allocated for construction and one year for the warranty period.

The minister added that the first phase of the project was successfully completed. The deputies also noted the need to include in the future third phase of construction those schools in the regions that are most in need of new buildings.
