The American embassy in Kyrgyzstan has informed citizens about new requirements for obtaining tourist and business visas of category B1/B2, urging them not to rush into paying the visa deposit.

According to a statement posted on the diplomatic mission's website, instructions for paying the deposit will be provided only after the interview, if the applicant meets all criteria. Payments made before this meeting are non-refundable.

After the interview, a link for payment through Pay.gov will be sent, and applicants are encouraged to make the payment within 30 days.

The pilot program will allow for a single-entry visa valid for up to three months, with entry into the U.S. only through specifically designated points. After returning to the country, the deposit will be automatically canceled, and the funds will be returned provided that all visa requirements are met, including no illegal work and timely departure.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan expressed its concern about the new requirements, emphasizing that they could negatively impact mutual travel between citizens of the two countries and lead to a reduction in business and tourist contacts. This, in turn, would hinder the further development of trade and economic relations between the states, and it was suggested to discuss ways to resolve this issue.

We remind you that starting from January 21, citizens of Kyrgyzstan applying for non-immigrant visas to the U.S. of categories B1 (business trips) and B2 (tourism) are required to pay a refundable deposit ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.
