The U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan has made an important announcement for those planning to apply for tourist and business visas of category B1/B2. Applicants are strongly advised not to pay the visa bond before the interview.

Consular staff will provide instructions for payment of the bond only after the interview and only if the candidate passes the selection. It is important to remember that funds transferred before the interview are non-refundable.

As stated in the official announcement, after the interview, the applicant will receive a direct link for payment through the Pay.gov platform, and they will need to make the payment within 30 days. Under the new pilot program, there is an option to obtain a single-entry visa for up to three months, and entry into the U.S. will only be allowed through pre-established points.

Upon returning to their home country, the bond will be automatically canceled, and the funds will be returned provided that visa requirements are met, such as no illegal employment and timely departure.

It is worth noting that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump included Kyrgyzstan in the list of countries whose citizens may face mandatory visa bond requirements when applying for B1/B2. This requirement will take effect on January 21, 2026, as part of the Visa Bond pilot project. The bond amount may range from $5,000 to $15,000 and will be set individually based on the results of the interview.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan also emphasized that paying the bond does not guarantee visa approval, and failure to comply with the conditions may result in the loss of funds. Citizens are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with the updated requirements in advance and strictly adhere to the U.S. visa and immigration regulations.
