In Kazakhstan, the deputies of the Mazhilis approved a protocol that amends the agreement between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan regarding border crossing points, signed on December 25, 2003. This was reported by Tengrinews.

According to Nurlan Sauranbaev, the Minister of Transport, the document stipulates that the automobile crossing point "Kegen - Karkara" will operate around the clock. This change will increase capacity and create more comfortable conditions for travelers, as well as contribute to the development of the tourism sector.

The minister also noted that in 2025, 11 million people and 3 million vehicles crossed the border.

Reference InformationThere are 11 automobile crossing points operating on the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, of which seven are multilateral international points. Four bilateral checkpoints - Alatau, Besagash, Jaiyl, and Kamyshanovka - were closed in 2010. The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is confident that the proposed changes will help improve transport and transit connections between the two countries. {lang_tg} {lang_share_buttons}
