During the meeting, the Committee approved a draft law that proposes the restoration of the recidivism institution. Deputy Abdylldabek Egemberdiev pointed out that the project states that convicts with special recidivism will serve their sentences in special regime facilities. He also raised the question of the possibility for the State Penitentiary Service to accommodate all such prisoners, considering that there is only one facility of this type in the country.
Sarchayev clarified that if the law is adopted, the prisoners will be held until the limit is reached. In case of overcrowding, options for constructing additional buildings to accommodate the convicts will be considered.
